  V.R.S.S. Mokkapat i2011年从代尔夫特理工大学毕业,获得了他用于单细胞和DNA分析的微纳流控设备的博士学位。此外,他还曾在维也纳奥地利技术研究所(一次性微流体装置)和新加坡国立大学(石墨烯用于生物医学应用和传感器方向)担任博士后研究员。2014- 2016年,他在土耳其伊斯坦布尔萨班哲大学居里夫人共同基金里担任用于体液过滤的石墨烯高分子聚合膜的研究员。目前,他是查尔姆斯理工大学的研究员并且在Wellspect医疗里研究石墨烯涂层对抗菌医疗设备方面的应用。

Anti-bacterial activity of graphene is a well-researched and controversial topic where contradictory results have been published by various researchers.1,2 These contradictions are because of various parameters like concentration, exposure time, thickness, GO flake size, are among a few to mention.3 Assuming that graphene is anti-bacterial, several mechanisms like physical cell membrane damage, ROS generation, wrapping of bacteria by GO flakes and membrane stress were put forward.3 Our studies are directed towards studying the anti-bacterial activity of different graphene derivatives on different substrates and has been realized that the roughness of the substrate plays a determinant role in deciding the mode of anti-bacterial effect. Both bactericidal and bacteriostatic mechanisms were observed on rough surfaces and soft substrates respectively. We would like to conclude that graphene/graphene derivatives themselves act as both bactericidal and bacteriostatic, depending on the form they are used, irrespective of the substrate they are present on (conductor, semi-conductor or insulator).
